Biker hit

Allen County police have asked for the public’s help to find a person responsible for a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist critically hurt.

Police and medics were called around 1 a.m. Saturday to the 2800 block of Hillegas Road, south of Butler Road across from the Three Rivers Wesleyan Church, on a report that an unknown vehicle had struck a bicyclist. Responders arrived to find a victim lying in the roadway, critically hurt.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said a vehicle fled the scene after the crash. The vehicle was possibly red, and might have been headed northbound, the department said.

Police have asked that anyone with information on the crash or the suspect call the Allen County Sheriff’s Department’s Detective Bureau at (260) 449-7411 or Dispatch at (260) 449-3000.

Capt. Steve Stone said in an email the victim “may not survive.”
