Police release video of suspect in gas station armed robbery

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a gas station armed robbery.

The incident happened Monday, at 6:49 a.m. at the Lassus Handy Dandy gas station at 3604 West Jefferson Blvd. 

According to police, the cashier said a man walked in with his coat hood over his head and approached the counter. He then leaned over and pulled out a black handgun and told the cashier it was "money or your life." 

The cashier pulled out the cash register drawer and gave him the money. He took the cash and asked for the bottom money as well. The employee told him there was not any and the suspect fled south on foot toward West Jefferson Blvd. 

Indiana State Police used a K9 unit and tracked him into the area of Ardmore and Covington Road to apartments, but did not find him.

They say he is in his mid 40's and about 6 ft. tall. He was wearing a yellow, black, and white camo coat and dark pants during the robbery.
