Police looking for suspects in jewelry store burglary

Local News

Police are investigating after a northeast Fort Wayne jewelry store was the victim of what’s being called a smash ‘n’ grab burglary.

An alarm company notified police of a possible break-in at Will Jewelers on Maysville Road in the Chapel Ridge Shopping Center around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

When police got there, they found the front glass door had been shattered and broken into.

Police said the burglars smashed several glass display cases inside the jewelry store and took an undisclosed amount of items. A store employee told WANE 15 the bandits made off with a few odds and ends but nothing major.

Security cameras caught two men driving a van and burglarizing the store, according to detectives at the scene.

Police were not able to immediately provide a detailed description of the suspects or the van they were driving.

Investigators hope the security footage will help them find the suspects involved in the crime.
