Police in Auburn are engaged in some sort of stand-off at a mobile home park on the city’s west end.

Residents told NewsChannel 15 that around 9 a.m. Thursday, police including a tactical team responded to a mobile home on Earnest Street, in the West Edge mobile home park off S.R. 8 near Interstate 69. The resident said a woman escaped from the home, and a family that lives next door to the home was evacuated.

DeKalb County emergency dispatchers would only said there is an active scene and investigation, and residents were asked to avoid the area. Dispatchers, though, said they did not know why they sent police to the area, why they had been there before several hours or even what address officers were at.

The situation was still going on at 3 p.m.

A photo provided to NewsChannel 15 shows an Auburn Police squad car blocking a roadway, with people around. It’s not clear from the photo what is happening.

NewsChannel 15 will continue to attempt to gather information from authorities.
