A Warsaw man was hurt when his pickup left a Kosciusko County roadway and hit a tree, and investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Police and medics with the Atwood Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office were called just before noon to the 4200 block of West Old Road 30 on a report of a personal injury crash. There, first responders found a 1996 Chevrolet pickup crashed in the pine trees, just west of a barn on the north side of the roadway.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was identified as Danny Hale, 65, of Warsaw.

According to a sheriff’s office report, the Chevrolet pickup was eastbound on Old Road 30 when it left the roadway, drove through a field and struck a pine tree.

Hale was airlifted from the scene with arm and leg injuries, police said.

The report said alcohol was believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
