Person found hours after crash dies

Local News

One person has died after a crash that was discovered hours after police believe it happened.

Around 7 Wednesday morning, police were called to a crash along East State Boulevard. The driver involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The victim was identified through fingerprint testing as Jess Edward Voirol, a 33-year-old from Fort Wayne. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Voirol died of blunt force injury due to a motor vehicle crash.

Police said sometime overnight Voirol was traveling west along East State when he left the roadway, went through a row of trees and down an embankment.

Wednesday morning police received a call from someone in a home along Bell Tower Lane alerting them to the crash. That property is adjacent to East State. Medics transported Voirol to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Around the same time, that police were investigating the fatal crash on East State, they were called to the nearby intersection of Stellhorn and Reed roads to the report of a multi-vehicle crash. That crash left at least one person in critical condition. Police are continuing to investigate both crashes.
