Local mushroom grower, Windrose Urban Farm, is teaming up with Bravas to help provide jobs for people with disabilities.
Wednesday only, Bravas Specialty Burger Joint will donate 15% of all sales (not including tax or gratuity) to Windrose Urban Farm. Bravas' "Mush Luv" burger features features locally grown urban farm to table shiitake mushrooms, raised and harvested by Windrose.
The major mushroom supplier seeks to help individuals with special needs and employment barriers to grow their careers and cultivate their tomorrow.
"Working with Bravas has been great, and we're thrilled that they support our mission of helping people with disabilities to find gainful employment, not to mention help us to create awareness, especially on the heels of Disability Awareness Month, which is next month", said Stacey Smith, PQC CEO, which operates Windrose Urban Farm.
At least seven Fort Wayne restaurants, including Bravas, use mushrooms from Windrose Urban Farm. Every Saturday at the Fort Wayne Famers Market at Parkview field, Windrose offers lions mane, oyster, and shiitake mushrooms, along with hearty mushroom soup and homemade stock.
Bravas is at 3412 Fairfield Avenue. It's open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
