FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne's Coney Island has been featured in People Magazine, recognized with the best hot dog in Indiana.
People released its ranking of the best hot dogs in each state on Wednesday. The article carried the mission, "From classic to gourmet, we sampled hundreds of franks to find the tastiest ones from coast to coast."
In Indiana, People found Coney Island's original coney dog to be best.
"Known for its Original Coney Island Hot Dog, with mustard, onions and homemade Coney sauce, this spot still opens at 8 a.m., a time once set to accommodate overnight shift workers on their way home," People said of Coney Island.
Founded in 1914, Coney Island has been operated by the same family since 1916. With just 70 seats, the Main Street eatery serves more than 2,000 hot days a day.
