FORT WAYNE - The 50th annual Three Rivers Festival is off and running and Saturday morning saw one of its biggest events: The parade.
The festive 2-mile precession began at 10:00 a.m., winding through the West Central neighborhood and finishing downtown.
The streets were lined with hundreds of thousands of spectators. Marching bands, rock bands, theater groups, charities, and characters got the crowd going.
"The festival may have started yesterday, but as far as I'm concerned, this is where the festival begins," said one person watching.
Some enjoyed the view. Others enjoying the music. Families and friends came together.
NewsChannel 15 escorted the veterans of Honor Flight Northeast Indiana down the route. People saluted, clapped and thanked them for their service. Honor Flight gives veterans free flights to Washington DC to see the memorials built in their honor.
