Over 100 people sleep outside to raise money and awareness for homelessness

The 5th annual One Night Without A Home is going on from 7 p.m. Friday night to 7 a.m. Saturday morning to raise awareness and money for homelessness.

About 125 people raised money, and then slept outside in either a box or a tent.

The goal of the Rescue Mission was to raise $50,000. The group has raised around $40,000.

One participant, Derek Desjardins, said, “It’s more than just giving change, it’s giving relationship, and it’s showing people in need that we care about them and that we’re willing to spend time with them, that we want to identify with them, and somehow bring them hope and encouragement.”

The event started with hearing the testimonies of 4 people who have benefited from the Rescue Mission.
