A 17-year-old girl who ran away from her eastern Ohio home in 2016 was found Tuesday at a Fort Wayne home by the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to a new release issued Wednesday, the Ashtabula County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office began investigating the case of Maisy Anthony back on September 6, 2016.  They believed Anthony had run away from her Kingsville home and had gone to Fort Wayne.

Police in Fort Wayne were unable to locate Anthony.

Then in May of this year, the U.S. Marshals Service was contacted to assist in the investigation.

Marshals Service investigators determined that Anthony had been stopped by police in the Fort Wayne area on several occasions, but she was released each time after producing false ID that showed her age to be 19.

Once investigators determined what name Anthony was using they were able to identify where she was staying.

Once in custody, Anthony was placed taken to the Allen County Juvenile Center, where she will remain until her return to Ohio.

U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott stated, “The safe recovery of this child was a direct result of the outstanding investigative work by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, coupled with the national reach of the U.S. Marshals.”
