A cow was found roaming near the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control shelter on the city’s northwest side Saturday and it was taken in until its owner claimed it again.
The shelter on Monday shared a photo of the cow with three animal control officers. A representative from the shelter told WANE 15 that Fort Wayne Police Capt. PJ Smith found the animal roaming along Butler Road, and he was able to leash it and walk it to the shelter at Butler and Hillegas roads.
Smith then went door-to-door along Butler Road until he found the cow’s owner. The owner then went to the shelter to recover the cow.
It’s not clear how the cow got out of its pasture.
