SUVs Donated to DAV Chapter 40

Disabled veterans will get to ride in brand new vehicles to their medical appointments. On Monday, Bob Thomas Ford and Steel Dynamics presented the keys to two Ford SUVs to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 40, Fort Wayne.

The organization had a critical need for new vehicles. Two previous vans were eight years old and logged more than 150,000 miles transporting veterans.

The funds for the SUVs were raised through the Le Tour de Fort bicycle pub-crawls in the last year. More than 2,500 riders over two events helped raised $50,000.

For Vince Corona, the president of Le Tour de Fort, veterans are close to his heart. He served as an Army Ranger with the 82nd Airborne.

“When we had the opportunity to help countless veterans to attend medical appointments and get access to care, we jumped at it,” said Corona.

The 2019 Le Tour de Fort pub-crawls are set for June 1 and August 24.
