New threat found at Churubusco High School

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. (WANE) – Three days after a threatening post was found on a bathroom wall at Churubusco High School a new threat was discovered.

The school’s safety specialist, Mark Fowerbaugh, emailed parents Saturday about a threat that was discovered on a bathroom wall earlier in the morning.

Officials said the threat stated, “April 9 shoot out.”

April 9 is the first day back for district students following spring break. Fowerbaugh said in the email that law enforcement has been contacted and are investigating.

The email sent to parents reads:

Good afternoon, this is Mark Fowerbaugh, Smith Green Community Schools Safety Specialist.

I am contacting you today to share that a new threat was discovered this morning. The threat stated “April 9 school shoot out” and was written on a Churubusco High School bathroom wall. The threat was reported by a student and quickly relayed to law enforcement and school administration, who immediately began investigating. Students and parents are always encouraged to report any suspicious or concerning activity to school staff or law enforcement, regardless of the situation. More details will be shared when they become available.
