New Coliseum Boulevard Chick-fil-A open for business

Fort Wayne has a new stand alone Chick-fil-A that will serve the north side of the city.

The new location at 182 W. Coliseum Boulevard stands on the north side of Glenbrook Square Mall. It officially opened for businesss Thursday morning with a special grand opening ceremony.

Before the grand opening, dozens of people camped out in the parking lot for fun, and the chance to win free Chick-fil-A for a year. Close to 30 people stayed on the property for more than 24 hours to guarantee their spot as one of the first customers in line.

The Coliseum location is the second stand alone Chick-fil-A to come to the Summit City. The Jefferson Pointe restaurant opened in 2002, and has had great success.

Jeff Hoffman has been the owner and operator at the Jefferson Pointe location since it opened. He has now relocated to the new Coliseum Boulevard location, which is less than a mile away from the home he and his family have lived in for 35 years.

“There’s just been a lot of pent up demand for more Chick-fil-A,” Hoffman explained. “Our business is growing down [at Jefferson Pointe]. Now I’ve walked away from that restaurant. Someone else will be owning that one. This is my restaurant now.”

The Jefferson Pointe location will remain open, but will be corporate-owned until a new operator takes over in April. The smaller location inside the Glenbrook Square Mall food court will also remain open.

Hoffman said he hopes to continue the company’s success with the new store on Coliseum Boulevard.

“We are truly excited to bring another Chick-fil-A to Fort Wayne and have an opportunity to continue serving our community outside our new restaurant,” said Hoffman. “We know our guests will find the same freshly prepared food and genuine hospitality they’ve come to expect from our Chick-fil-A team over the years.”

Plans for the new Chick-fil-A have been in the works for years, and construction has been underway since last spring.

The new, 4,000-square-foot restaurant has been designed to enhance all aspects of the guest experience, according to a press release from Chick-fil-A.

Highlights include:

  • a dining room that seats 112 with a vintage-inspired interior, including a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, light fixtures from recycled Coca-Cola bottles and peach baskets, and an interactive two-story, indoor play area
  • Chick-fil-A app mobile ordering parking spot with designated inside pickup counter
  • full-service menu with a variety of healthy and dietary options, including breakfast until 10:30 a.m. Open 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, except Sundays.
  • two-lane drive-thru merging into a single pick-up point that can handle upwards of 200 cars an hour, along with a covered double canopy for face-to-face ordering to enhance and further speed up the process.

Hoffman has hired around 100 new employees to help run the new restaurant, but he is always looking to add new team members. If you want to work at the new Chick-fil-A, you can apply in person, or online here
