New brewery coming to Wells Street in Fort Wayne

Local News

Building off the momentum of Fort Wayne development and the craft beer industry, another brewery is set to open this year in The Summit City.

2 Toms Brewing Company is the brainchild and passion of Tom Carpenter. Despite the name, there is only one Tom behind the new brewery. Carpenter said he came up with the name when his wife told him he needed to clone himself to have time for all of his hobbies, like making beer.

Carpenter said it all started with a home-brew kit he received as a birthday gift. From there, his interest grew. Eventually, he entered some of his beer in local and national contests. The success he found encouraged him to open his own brewery.

2 Toms has been under construction on North Wells Street next to the Fort Wayne Curling Club since March of 2018. Inside, customers will see an open-concept layout that will feature tables made from reclaimed bowling alley wood and windows that show the beer being made.

“Inventive beers, adventurous spirit” is the motto behind 2 Toms, one they hope will help them stand out and find success among the fast-growing craft beer scene in Fort Wayne. Among their planned brews are a stout beer with flavors of habaƱero  chiles, a hazy milkshake IPA, barrel-aged sours, and a New England IPA.

2 Toms is expected to open by late summer. You can follow their progress on Instagram and Facebook.
