NORTHEAST INDIANA (WANE) – Hundreds of customers are without power in the northeast Indiana region. Both Indiana Michigan Power and NIPSCO are reporting outages.
I&M’s outage map indicates almost 70 customers are without power in the Kendallville area. The map did not indicate the cause, or when power will be restored for most of the area.
NIPSCO customers experiencing outages include Angola, LaGrange, Shipshewana, and more. Angola is facing the biggest outage of the region with over 450 customers without power.
NIPSCO’s website said, “Heavy, wet snow early this morning across the NIPSCO service area caused new outages, as the new snow added weight to lines and tree limbs already laden with ice and snow from Friday’s storm. This new, heavy snow has caused additional tree limbs to break and lines to come down.”
“NIPSCO crews, along with 200 additional line workers in place from mutual assistance, continue to work on restoring power on outages caused by Friday’s winter storm, along with assessing the new damages. Estimated times of restoration in some impacted areas will be available later today.”
