Multiple people evacuated after fire at Black Bear Creek Apartments

Multiple people were evacuated and a pet had to be rescued after a fire at Black Bear Creek Apartment Complex Thursday night. 

Fort Wayne fire crews were called to the the complex at the 1600 block of Reed Road around 10:50 p.m. 

When firefighters arrived they found fire in the patio area of the apartment. 

Two adults and one child were able to evacuate safely. Firefighters did have to rescue a pet. 

The fire was under control within 20 minutes. 

Firefighters appeared to be working on a unit on the third flood. They used a tall ladder to access the apartment’s balcony. 

No injuries were reported
