Multiple departments fight house fire where frozen tree fell on power line

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Multiple fire departments were called to a house fire where a frozen tree fell on a power line.

Fire crews arrived at the fire on the 1700 block of Glen Elm Drive around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon. Flames could be seen coming from the roof and back of the house. Tanker trucks were called for water supply because there were no hydrants in the area.

According to Huntertown Fire Department Operations Chief Robert Boren, a tree covered in ice, fell on top of a power line which landed on the house. The house was then charged, making the house unsafe to touch due to power arching.

After the power was secured, crews made access to the house and continued operations and brought the fire under control.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
