Man fighting for his life after being struck by vehicle

A man is fighting for his life a crash caused by a car that pulled out in front of him over the weekend.

Brittany Stier tells WANE 15 her husband Preston Stier was on his way to buy a new motorcycle seat for her on Saturday.

He never made it there and is now in a coma in the hospital.

“They had to remove the whole side of his skull to relieve the pressure and as of right now he’s still in a coma,” Brittany said.

On Saturday, Preston was riding his motorcycle when a car turned into his path near the intersection of Cook Road and Landlord Lane.

With nowhere to go, he crashed into the car.

Police say the driver took off, but was later found. Brittany is appalled they did not stop to help her husband.

“I understand accidents happen and that’s not what I am upset about. My thing is, who hits somebody and then just runs,” Brittany explained.

Brittany says she is trying to stay strong for her four children. She is relying on the support of family and members of her husband’s motorcycle club who she says have been there every step of the way.

“They haven’t left and it’s been really nice to know that they’ve been a family and I can always count on them,” she said.

“We’re as supportive as he would be of any of us,” added “Bam,” a member of the Lords of Armageddon Motorcycle Club. “The reason we get into a club like this is to meet brothers exactly like him.”

As her husband fights to recover, Brittany is begging drivers to lookout for motorcyclists as riding season ramps up.

“Motorcycles are there and there are people too and you have to know they are just like truck drivers, they can’t stop the way cars do on four wheels,” Brittany added.

While speaking with witnesses and investigating the area, police found the suspected vehicle involved in the crash. They located the registered owner and are interviewing them to figure out what happened.

Investigators believe alcohol is a contributing factor in the crash.

Fort Wayne Police tells WANE 15 there is a person of interest and charges are pending, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
