FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police are investigating after a man was stabbed early Wednesday morning.
Emergency dispatchers said a man walked into a local hospital around 2:18 a.m. with an apparent stab wound. He was in serious condition.
According to a police report, a woman said she was in her home in the 1400 block of North Harrison Street when she heard yells from outside. She went out to find a man - Trenton Spencer - in the alleyway suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The woman said she drove the man to the hospital.
At the hospital, doctors told police that Spencer had been stabbed five times - in the left armpit, right collar bone, and three times in various locations on the back, the report said. He was listed in serious condition.
Spencer refused to speak with police. He said, though, that he'd been stabbed with a kitchen knife, and it happened somewhere off Wells Street, the report said.
Police responded to a home in the 200 block of 4th Street a short time later and began investigating it as a possible scene.
Officers at the scene could not confirm that the stabbing happened at the home, because the victim and the person living at the home were not being cooperative.
No other information was immediately available.
