Man killed in ‘targeted’ shooting ID’d

One man is dead after a shooting on the 4500 block of South Wayne Avenue. 

Police were called to the shooting around 7:45 Thursday evening. When they arrived they found the a man had been shot in the drivers seat of a parked car. 

Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He was identified later as 43-year-old Aristotle J. King of Fort Wayne.

An autopsy showed King died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators said the shooting does not appear to be random.

“Based upon what we are seeing right now, I would imagine it is targeted,” said police spokesman Michael Joyner. “I see no reason to be alarmed. I see a very good reason to be disgusted, disappointed that this type of violence is occurring in Fort Wayne.”

South Wayne Avenue between Pasadena Drive and W. Sherwood Terrace was shutdown while while investigators processed the scene. They do not have a suspect at this time.
