Lottery Officials: Winning $1.6B Mega Millions ticket sold

Local News

The Associate Press reported Wednesday, a winning Mega Millions ticket was sold in South Carolina, winning the estimated $1.6B jackpot.

Tuesday’s numbers were drawn as 05-28-62-65-70 and Mega Ball 05.

That’s the highest a jackpot has even been, in any lottery game.

The cash option would be about $905,000,000 before taxes.

Lottery officials expect about 75 percent of the 302,000,000 number combinations will be sold.

Tuesday at the Marathon Station on Hillegas and Butler, people gave some mixed reaction to buying lottery tickets.

Randy Lamely said if he wins he’ll retire as soon as possible.

Dennis Maloy said, “I’d travel the other half of the world I haven’t already seen.”
