Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) - Lakeland Internet offers high speed services to customers in Angola.
This month the company is celebrating one year in business.
John Welty grew up in Fort Wayne and always had an interest in electronics. He then attended ITT Technical Institute, where he started a sound company. He then moved to Los Angeles and had the opportunity to design and construct production and broadcasting facilities.
Fast forward, Welty moved back to Indiana and named his internet business Lakeland Internet. He created the name because, "When we moved stuff into our lake house, we tried for weeks to get internet to our house and couldn't get internet, it was frustrating, so I got with a partner and started an Internet company." Welty said.
How it works is they install a small radio transceiver on the house, for the Ethernet cable that comes into the house to connect to a wireless router and create a local WiFi signal.
