Local farm providing jobs for people with disabilities

Local News

Windrose Urban Farm grows mushrooms that you can consume at the Farmer’s Market located at Parkview Field and in several area restaurants. While this is a positive for the community, what they are doing for those with disabilities is also having a positive impact.

Stacey Smith, the founder of Windrose Urban Farm, said that only 39% of Indiana residents who are living with disabilities have a job. It was her goal to work with the farmers at Windrose to create a safe and supportive work environment for people who are living with disabilities to be able to learn and grow.

Recently, Bravas restaurant hosted a fundraiser in which proceeds went towards helping cover the wages for the employees at Windrose. Stacey says that the company thrives off of donations and support from the community, which helps to make this all possible.
