The Man and Woman of the Year in northeast Indiana were recognized at an event at Parkview’s Mirro Center Saturday evening.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society held its annual event to raise funds for blood cancer therapies.
Orthopedics Northeast Dr. Brett Gemlick was named Man of the Year after raising $163,000.
Vicki Grabowski was named Woman of the Year after raising more than $112,000.
Both are the first candidates (and winners) to raise more than $100,000.
Every dollar raised by a MWOY candidate counts as a vote. The most votes wins the award.

Candidates create fundraising teams and compete in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors. Fundraising takes place over ten weeks.
