ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A 27-year-old Fort Wayne man was pronounced dead following a single motorcycle crash in the northern part of Adams County Tuesday night.
Police responded to the intersection of Winchester Road and W 900 N, northwest of Decatur, around 6 p.m. Responding officers located a motorcycle off the road with the driver critically injured and unresponsive, the release said.
EMS and Fire personnel provided medical assistance, however Matthew Gorman, 27, of Fort Wayne was pronounced dead at he scene by the Adams County Coroner.
The preliminary investigation of the crash revealed that Gorman was traveling northbound on Winchester Road. As the motorcycle began the downhill “S” curve, he ran off the road and crash into a utility pole, the release said.
Investigators say that speed is a possible factor in the crash. There was standing water on the road according to the release.
Witness told officers that Gorman was wearing a helmet prior to the crash.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Adams County EMS, Preble Fire Department, Decatur Fire Department, the Adams County Coroner’s Office and Piqua Repair Wrecker Service.
