King’s Community Outreach hands out baskets

Local News

A local barbershop offers more than a shave and a haircut, especially during the holidays.

King’s Barbershop at the corner of Pontiac and Warsaw puts together Christmas baskets for the needy.

This is the third year the owner and volunteers have held this giveaway.

They call themselves King’s Community Outreach.

All of the items are donated by people, churches and organizations who want to help those less fortunate.

The community giveaway has grown from a couple dozen baskets to more than 300.

“This is what the season is all about, about giving. Giving people an experience, a different opportunity. You’re able to come in line and there’s a first come first served outside of the names listed, but we want to be able to bless as many people as possible,” says Lewis King, with King’s Community Outreach.

The baskets will be given away today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shop at 502 East Pontiac Street.

Again, they will be given away on a first come first served basis. Children’s toys and clothing will also be given away.
