Local News

Nearly 100 children ages 9 -15 competed in teams Saturday to move on to the state LEGO robotics tournament.

The FIRST® LEGO® League “Into Orbit” Qualifying Tournament was hosted at Indiana Tech.

Ten teams worked built and programed their autonomous LEGO robots for nine weeks leading up to the competition. Their robots competed to complete missions in different obstacle courses.

“It’s really fun. You get to work with an awesome team and you get to learn about more people and especially if you like to build with LEGOS, it’s fun,” said ten-year-old compeditor, Benjamin Larranaga.

The submissions are judged on the project, robot design, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

The winner of the Fort Wayne competition will move on to compete at state in December.
