Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne is launching a crowdfunding campaign for a sculpture celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The college commissioned local artist, Jim Merz, to create the interactive piece of art to celebrate Ivy Tech’s history in Fort Wayne. The 10-foot tall sculpture symbolizes the college’s logo while also representing a transition point from one stage to the next.
“Jim Merz’s sculpture will be a perfect mainstay at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and will commemorate the past, present, and future of our campus,” says Ivy Tech Chancellor Jerrilee K. Mosier, Ed.D. “As we move into the future, our roots as a vocational and technical school—along with our more recent designation as Indiana’s comprehensive community college—provide us the opportunity to offer multiple career pathways for individuals throughout northeast Indiana.”
The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise $6,500 by May 10. If the goal is reached, Ivy Tech will get a matching grant from the Indiana Housing Community Development Authority through the CreatINg Places program. The initiative has matched nearly $1.7 million for projects across the state.
