The spot for a proposed arena could still see development.
The News-Sentinel is reporting Fort Wayne’s Capital Improvement Board approved a $17 million bond to buy a block just west of the Grand Wayne Center. The funds would also go to expanding the parking garage at Calhoun and Jefferson.
Plans for an arena in the area near Parkview Field were put on hold last year after Mayor Tom Henry said the project did not appear to be a responsible investment at the time.
Henry’s decision came on the same day the results of a study were released that showed the arena would not benefit the area in a big way.
The bond still needs further approval.
