FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A man is in police custody after he crashed a pickup truck into a Maaco garage early Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the crash just before 1:30 a.m. after receiving calls about it.
Police at the scene said the man was driving south on Lima Road when he went off the road, jumped a curb, and crashed into the Maaco body shop at the intersection of Lima and Chambeau roads.
The truck knocked a stop sign over and bent the street sign on the corner. It eventually ended up coming to a stop after going through the garage door of the building.
The garage door was destroyed and other parts of the building sustained some damage. There was also a classic car inside the garage that the truck ran into. It had damage on the back side from the collision.
A water line was hit in the process which caused more of a mess until authorities could get it shut off.
The man suffered minor injuries, but police said he refused medical attention.
Police said the man appeared to be clearly intoxicated. They took the man into custody and were running tests to see what substance he was intoxicated by.
The incident is under investigation.
