Indiana’s 9th baby box to be installed in Warsaw

Local News

Warsaw will soon install Indiana’s 9th baby box.

According to WSBT, the city council unanimously voted in favor of the box Tuesday night. The  box will be installed in the side of Warsaw Fire Station 2.

The baby box would allow a woman to safely and anonymously give up her baby under the Safe Haven Law. The law allows mothers to surrender their babies within 45 days of birth.

The boxes have heating, cooling and a silent alarm that alerts workers a baby is there.

Installation of the box will begin once the alarm system is added to the fire station.
