FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A Fort Wayne man was taken into custody after leading multiple agencies on a vehicle pursuit and then barricading himself inside his vehicle Sunday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Police Department became involved in a high-speed chase on Allen County’s west side. The pursuit eventually turned into a barricaded standoff in the suspect’s vehicle after he stopped in the 8500 block of S.R. 14, west of Hadley Rd.

At about 10 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police SWAT team’s intervention successfully resolved the situation, ISP said.

The 26-year-old man, a resident of Fort Wayne, was taken into custody without serious injury to himself, nor to any of the responding officers involved.

The driver will be at a local hospital for a 24-hour medical evaluation, the agency said.

The Indiana State Police will then turn over its investigation to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office upon completion for the determination and filing of criminal charges.

Indiana State Police said the suspect, who has not been named, led police on a chase, at one time reaching 115 miles per hour passing by the SDI Steel Mill.

The Indiana State Police were assisted in this incident by the Fort Wayne Police, the Allen County Police, Fort Wayne EMS, and Parker’s Wrecker Service.
