The Allen County Traffic Safety Partnership will join a statewide increase of patrols during the month of March. The patrols will target aggressive driving violations.

The ACTSP is comprised of the Fort Wayne, Allen County, New Haven and Woodburn police departments.

They will join nearly 230 other law enforcement agencies across the state in higher numbers of patrols on the road.

Top causes of serious and fatal crashes include failure to yield the right of way, following too closely and unsafe lane movements.

Other aggressive driving violations include unsafe speed, speed too fast for weather conditions, disregarding a traffic signal or sign and improper passing, turning or lane usage.

“The rules of the road are not only the law, they are designed to help everyone reach their destination safely and efficiently,” said Lt. Tony Maze of the Fort Wayne Police Department. “By warning drivers of aggressive driving enforcement, our aim is to make prevent unsafe driving and save lives.”
