Illinois man arrested in Bluffton for using stolen social security number

A 60-year-old Illinois man is facing felony charges after Indiana State Troopers took him into custody.

Monday, March 11, Charles McKee tried to buy a vehicle from Hiday Motors in Bluffton. The dealer later learned the social security number he used was fraudulent. 

Investigators believed the information used by McKee, belonged to a person who lived in Ottawa County, Michigan. Troopers took McKee into custody Wednesday around 4:50 p.m. while he was finishing up the purchase at the dealership.

McKee is facing two felony charges including: Defrauding a Financial Institution and Identity Theft. He’s currently in the Wells County Jail.
