Icy streets give way to potholes with warmer temps on the way

Local News

Fort Wayne Street Department crews were busy Friday clearing snow from main arteries and secondary roads, but the decision was made to not plow neighborhood streets because the snow provided a layer of traction on top of ice that had formed according to a news release upating the media on road conditions.

Crews put hot sand down in neighborhoods to help with traction, but with extremely cold temperatures, the sand cannot melt ice.

Attention is now being turned to potholes which will pop up as temps rise this weekend.

Residents are asked to call 311 to report a pothole and if the call is made when operators aren’t on duty, they should wait for the appropriate prompt.

Try to be as specific as possible as to the location of the pothole.
