Hop River Brewing Company Celebrates Its 1st Birthday!

Hop River Brewing Company celebrates its 1st year in the community Saturday, Feb. 9th from noon to 10:30 p.m. with its Birthday Bash Party.  Come share stories and remember their major milestones as they release their latest new beer (Double Dry-Hopped, Double IPA), blow out a candle, eat cake from Zinnia’s Bakehouse, join their new Mug Club, and jam out to some amazing local music! 

Original Music Line-Up:

  • 3:00pm-5:00pm Rust Belt Drifters
  • 5:30pm-7:30pm Uncle Muscle
  • 8:00pm-10pm Sad Gravity

In their first year, Hop River Brewing Company took home two Gold Medals and a Second Best in Show for their Maestro (Vienna Lager) and Harrison St. Wheat (Hefeweizen) at the 2018 Indiana State Fair Brew’s Cup Competition.  Their White BBQ Chicken was rated among the top five best sandwiches in Fort Wayne by the Fort Wayne Magazine.  The Journal Gazette rated Hop River as one of five best restaurants to dine out in 2018 Best of List.  Also, the brewery received an Arche Award for their historical building preservation.

Over the past year, Hop River Brewing Company has made their mark in the Fort Wayne Brewery scene as a community collaborator and advocate by working with over 70 local non-profits, artists, and businesses. They helped create the Northern IN Brewery Association and sit on the Wells St. Corridor Business Association, Visit Fort Wayne, and the Northeast IN Local Food Network boards.  Whether hosting a fundraiser, private, or public event, Hop River has been intentional about reaching out to the community and welcoming all those that are interested in creating and sustaining a relationship over a craft beer. 

They are most proud of the relationships built in the taproom.  

“My favorite part about working at Hop River is that it almost feels like a family. Not even just with the staff, but all the customers that keep coming back. We have awesome beer and a great environment, and I enjoy going to work,” says Assistant Taproom Manager, Tabitha Grainger.

With 36 branded beers, enthusiasts can rest assured that our Brewer will continue to create quality, true-to-style beers, while being intentionally creative with variants.  Our food menu will continue to play with local flavors from seasonal vegetables and proteins from area farmers.  Local musicians and visual artists of all ages will continue to call Hop River a place that celebrates their voice and perspective.

With fun past events such as the Bluegrass Celebrity Death Match, the Fall Fest, Midnight Release of Midnight Retreat stout, and pop up market with the Art Barn, Hop River Brewing Company continues to push the envelope with unique, niche events that brings people of all ages to the taproom.

Brewery fans can continue to count on the monthly meetups with the Crafts & Drafts nights, Hoppy Hounds animal enrichment projects with Animal Care and Control, Pottery & Pints workshops, and most recently, the Fearless Women meetups.  On the calendar, there are a handful of local musicians scheduled to perform in the taproom and on their outdoor patio when the weather turns, pouring events at area beer festivals and Fort Wayne locally-owned shops, happy hours, a Chili Cook-Off with Northern IN breweries, and a Kids Art Exhibit in March.
