Gov. Eric J. Holcomb on Wednesday announced Magistrate Jennifer L. DeGroote as his appointment to the Allen County Superior Court.

DeGroote will succeed Judge Stanley A. Levine who will retire on December 31.

She has served as a magistrate judge for the Allen County Superior Courts since 1999. She began her legal career in private practice. DeGroote earned a Bachelor of Arts from University of Michigan and her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.

DeGroote will be sworn in as the Judge of the Allen County Superior Court on a date to be determined.

She issued the following statement following her appointment:

I have had the chance to learn from many great judges during my 19 years as a magistrate. Getting to join them on the Allen Superior Court bench is an opportunity I always hoped for. I will make the most of this rare opportunity by working hard every day to serve my community and deliver justice fairly and impartially. That’s our job as Judges, and I’ve been preparing for it my entire career. It will be the honor of my life to serve in this new role. My sincerest thanks and gratitude go out to Governor Holcomb for this honor.”
