A social media rumor about the impending closure of Glenbrook Square Mall doesn’t hold water, the mall’s management has said.
On Monday, a rumor was circulated about mass sales of 50 percent off to 75 percent off at all stores at Glenbrook, to make way for a closure of the sprawling shopping center at Coliseum Boulevard and Coldwater Road. The rumor suggested the mall was being closed so apartments could rise in the location.
WANE 15 received numerous questions from viewers about the rumor.
Glenbrook Square Senior General Manager Michael Lyons told WANE 15 on Monday the talk was “just a rumor and there is no truth to it.”
Recently, Glenbrook has added popular eateries like P.F. Chang’s and, just outside the mall, Chick-fil-A. A plan is also underway to raze the old Sear’s and build a retail offering and a Portillo’s nearby.
Several stores in the mall are currently running sales, as is common as seasons change.
