FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Get ready for your diet to take a hit, because Girl Scout cookie season is here.
Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana - Michiana kicked off its annual sale Friday.
Volunteers, workers, and Girl Scouts themselves have been preparing for the launch for months.
On Thursday, they made their final preparations at Cookie Central on Dupont Circle Drive East in Northern Fort Wayne.
The eight classic cookie varieties will be available as always. Those include: S’mores, Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Shortbread, Caramel deLites, Lemonades and Thanks-A-Lot.
Those classics will sell for $4 a box.
Making its debut this year is a new gluten-free cookie, Caramel Chocolate Chip. You can buy those for $5 a box.
There are several ways to buy cookies nowadays, and it's pretty simple:
- Contact any Girl Scout
- Stop by a cookie booth at various locations around the area
- Find locations near you by using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder at www.gsnim.org
- Or download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app on your iOS or Android mobile device and press "Find Cookies Now"
All cookie proceeds stay local and help power new experiences for girls in the program, according to Girl Scout leaders.
They say the sale also teaches girls entrepreneurial and leadership skills that will help them succeed throughout life.
The sale continues through March 3. You can learn more about the Girl Scouts and track their progress and upcoming events at www.girlscoutsnorthernindiana-michiana.org
