Girl critically hurt after being shot in the eye with BB gun

GRABILL, Ind. (WANE) An 8-year-old girl critically hurt Thursday after being accidentally shot in the eye with a BB gun by her 6-year-old brother at a home in Grabill has died.

Police and medics were called around 3:30 p.m. to the home at 8320 Ricker Road. There, dispatchers said a young girl had been shot with some sort of air gun. On Friday police confirmed the girl’s age and that she had been shot with a BB gun.

The girl was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, dispatchers told NewsChannel 15. Officials said later that the girl died of a gunshot wound.

Police are currently investigating the incident. No other information was available.
