FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle on Interstate 469 Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened on the city’s north side on the westbound I-469 ramp to southbound I-69 around 3 p.m.

Fort Wayne Police Spokesman Officer Michael Joyner said investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The victim was found near the edge of the road. His motorcycle was approximately 400 feet away at the bottom of a ravine.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as 60-year-old Mark Thomas Hamilton of Leo-Cedarville. Hamilton died of blunt force trauma due to a motorcycle crash, the coroner’s office ruled.

During the investigation, traffic was diverted off at Auburn Road. The exit ramp was closed for more than 2 hours while police investigated.

No other vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
