Fort Wayne team headed to Little League softball World Series

A Fort Wayne girls softball team is headed to the Little League World Series.

The District 10 Little League Softball Senior team based in Fort Wayne will play in the 2018 Little League Senior Softball World Series, held July 30 through Aug 5 in Roxana, Delaware. The team will represent the Central division of the United States in the global tournament. 

The team is made up of players from Snider, Leo, Central Noble, Columbia City, Churubusco and Homestead high schools. The Senior League Softball Division is for girls 13-16 years old, according to Little League rules.

The team will open World Series play Monday with a game against the West division. It will play the Southeast team on Tuesday and Canada on Wednesday before playing the Europe-Asia team on Thursday.

The quarter-finals will begin Friday, Aug. 3, with the semi-finals played on Saturday, Aug. 4 and the finals played on Sunday, Aug. 5.
