Fort Wayne school, police investigate threats

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne middle school has investigated two different apparent threats this week.

In a letter sent to parents, Fort Wayne Community Schools detailed incidents that happened at Kekionga Middle School at 2929 Engle Road.

The first happened Wednesday when a student reportedly made a comment at lunch. School officials didn't learn about the comment until the end of the day, however.

Police were sent to the student's home and the threat was determined to be invalid, the letter said.

On Thursday then, another apparent threat happened when a group of students were working together in a classroom and one of them made a comment about someone having a gun. The school's resource officer looked into it and found that no one had a gun.

The district said students have been reminded during morning announcements and at lunch that threatening comments are not appropiate for school.
