Fort Wayne clothing maker partners with HGTV’s Joanna Gaines on line

Fort Wayne-based Matilda Jane Clothing and HGTV star Joanna Gaines are joining forces.

Matilda Jane Clothing announced Tuesday it is collaborating with the popular “Fixer Upper” designer on a new collection of clothing and accessories for the summer. The collection will feature clothes for girls, baby, tween, and women and home accessories, and also for the first time, items for dads and brothers.

Matilda Jane officials said in a news release that the collection was inspired by the “carefree, easygoing days only summer can offer.”

Gaines said the vision came from her Texas farm featured in her hit TV show.

“The whole inspiration for this new collection was summer here out on the farm. The long days, the hazy sunsets, kids running around just being kids,” said Joanna Gaines. “The whole idea of being inspired by life on the farm is really rooted in an effortless, easygoing lifestyle, and that’s the feeling I hope people have when they’re wearing these pieces.”

Matilda Jane design director Madeline Katzel added that the collection was designed with the whole family in mind.

“With this collaboration, we were able to do something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time – offer styles for brother and dad,” said Katzel. “We love the complete family looks we were able to create and can’t think of anything cuter for those upcoming family pictures, barbecues, and summertime celebrations.”

Among the items available in the summer collection are baby rompers and dresses; girls and tween rompers, dresses, tops and shorts; women’s tops, shorts, jumpsuits, and dresses; apparel for men and boys; and home accessories, such as storage bins, fabric poufs, and wallpaper. Prices range from $34 to $148.

The new Matilda Jane summer collection debuts June 1st at matildajaneclothing.com or through a local “Trunk Keeper” dealer.
