Firefighters struggle to put out pallet fire in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ind. - A Bluffton pallet warehouse was damaged by fire Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews were called around 5 p.m. to The Pallet Barn at 3650 E 200 N on the northeast side of Bluffton on a report of a fire there. Bluffton Fire Chief Don Craig tells NewsChannel 15 that two barns caught fire, as well as large piles of pallets outside the barns.

Crews battled the flames to keep them from spreading to a home on the property. Craig says the home's attached garage and kitchen did catch fire, but the rest of the home was saved.

Officials say no one was on the property at the time of the fire, but a dog was able to escape unharmed.

Craig told NewsChannel 15 that crews struggled to get enough water and manpower to the scene to fight the large fire.

Officials said the two barns are a total loss.
