The FBI is offering $25,000 for information leading to the arrest of an armed and dangerous fugitive with ties to Northeast Indiana. 47-year-old Juan Alberto Mendez has warrants in both Fort Wayne and Houston, Texas.
Officials say he’s from Mission, Texas and is an alleged associated of the Gulf Cartel. The FBI believes he’s involved in drug racketeering, including murder and kidnapping in aid of racketeering, between 2015 and 2018 in Indiana and Texas.
On September 23, 2015, the U.S. District Court for Northern District of Indiana in Fort Wayne issued a federal warrant after Mendez was charged. Another warrant was issued in May 2018 at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston, Texas.
Investigators describe Mendez as having brown hair and eyes, and is between 5’7″ to 5’8″. He also has a scar on his abdomen, chin, head, right knee and right forearm. Mendez also has a mole on his right cheek and is known to wear glasses. The public should consider him armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the location of Mendez is asked to call the FBI’s San Antonio Field Office at (956) 984-6300.
