Family and dog escape house fire without injury

A family is safe after their home caught fire Tuesday morning. 

Firefighters with the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to 2225 Vance Avenue around 6:15 a.m.

The first crew found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the house when they arrived. 

It took crews about 10 minutes to get the blaze under control. 

Two adults, a child, and a family dog were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived. 

The home sustained moderate fire damage and minor smoke and water damage. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
