Family desperate for help finding missing loved one

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne family is desperate for help in finding their missing loved one.

On Sunday, the family of 25-year-old Kevin Nguyen went around parts of downtown handing out flyers and posting his picture in hopes that he is found. They have not seen or heard from him since Dec. 8.

"He's my role model, more than my big brother, my best friend, and I hope he comes home soon," said Kevin's younger sister Lian.

WANE 15 spoke exclusively to Nguyen's family. They said he was kicked out of the Brass Rail on Broadway last Saturday night, after some sort of altercation. The family said they know from his credit card statements that he paid his tab and bought a pizza from a food truck outside the bar. But after calling for a ride home, he was nowhere to be found.

"The last time I heard from him was on Sunday at 2:44 am, when he called me to go pick him up from the bar that night," said Lian. "My mom went to pick him up and then I never heard from him after that."

The family said they filed a police report, but haven't heard from detectives. Kevin's dad, Lance Yankey, said he went to the bar and other businesses in the area hoping surveillance cameras captured something.

On Monday, the Fort Wayne Police Department acknowledged a missing persons report had been filed. According to Sgt. Jim Seay, there are no signs of foul play and anyone with information about Kevin's whereabouts is asked to call 427-1222.

The Arby's on Jefferson Blvd. gave them a video. It shows Kevin walking by the side of the building alone around 1:40 in the morning.

"I can't imagine what his family is going through," said family friend Alena Rasnick. "I know as a personal friend it's hard for me. I can't imagine what his mother and father are going through."

With each passing day the family is fearing the worst. They're hoping putting up the posters triggers something in someone's mind - anything - that can help them find Kevin.

"He's an amazing person, and if you do find him, please bring him home, please our family is so worried about him," said Lian.

Kevin was last wearing a dark blue jacket, tan skinny jeans, Burberry prescription glasses, and black Vans shoes.

He has small black gauges in each ear and light facial hair.
